The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Renson M. Ingonga has been unanimously elected as a Supernumerary Member of the Executive Committee of the International Association of Prosecutors (ΙΑΡ).
The election took place on 9th September 9, 2025 during the IAP’s 30th Annual Conference and General Meetings in Singapore.
This global recognition comes after Ingonga was elected President of the Africa Association of Prosecutors (APA) during the Association’s 17th Annual Conference and General Meeting in Marrakesh, Morocco, in July 2024.
It also follows his successful leadership in hosting the 23rd Commonwealth Heads of Prosecuting Agencies Conference (HOPAC) in Mombasa, Kenya, in July 2025.
This historic election is a proud milestone for Kenya and the African continent. It reaffirms Africa’s growing influence in shaping international prosecutorial discourse and underscores Kenya’s steadfast commitment to active participation in global justice initiatives.
This will provide a unique platform to enhance cooperation, address emerging challenges, and strengthen prosecutorial standards across jurisdictions.
In his remarks following the election, the DPP accepted the position and the responsibility it comes with.
“I am humbled by this election and the responsibility that comes with it. Prosecutors play a critical role in the fair administration of justice, and this opportunity allows us to exchange experiences, embrace best practices, and discharge our mandate with integrity, professionalism, and firmness.”
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has extended its gratitude to the International Association of Prosecutors for the confidence placed in Ingonga’s leadership.
It has reaffirmed its unwavering dedication to the rule of law, international collaboration, and the advancement of prosecutorial excellence.
The ODPP added that it remains steadfast in its mission to uphold the rule of law, promote international cooperation, and advance prosecutorial standards.
