A Nairobi lawyer was shot dead on the evening of Tuesday, September 9, while he was driving on Lang’ata Road in Nairobi.
According to police reports the victim, identified as Advocate Kyalo Mbombu was gunned down by an attacker riding on a motorcycle
The incident happened shortly after 7:30 p.m.
Mbobu was reportedly driving home when the assailant pulled alongside his vehicle and opened fire before speeding away.
The attackers smashed his car’s window before shooting him multiple times in the chin, leaving his body slumped over the driver’s seat.
Police say the motive for the attack is not yet known.
DCI has deployed a team of experts to handle the investigation.
Mbombu was an advocate of the High Court of Kenya, with over 29 years of experience in legal practice.
He specialized in commercial litigation, arbitration, and corporate governance.
The lawyer was a senior Partner at Kyalo & Associates Advocates.
He served as the chairman of the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal.
Mbobu also served as Board Member at the Institute of Directors (IOD) Kenya and Trustee at Corat Africa.
He held chairmanship positions at Quest Holdings Ltd and Core Capital Group Ltd.
He was a Lecturer at both the University of Nairobi School of Law and the Kenya School of Law.
Mbobu has an LL.B (Honours) and an LL.M from Georgetown University.
He was also certified as a Certified Public Secretary – Kenya (CPS-K).
