The National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) training program has been disrupted as young people staged a walkout.
Trainees were offered Ksh 500 as a reimbursement fee, but they rejected.
According to the young people, they accused the company that was contracted to train them fro failing to conduct proper feasibility.
Trainees also called out the termination of the contract of that company.
Some youths claimed to have traveled from far-flung areas, including Kibish, Loim,a and Turkana West.
Additionally, they noted that there was poor accommodation and inadequate facilitation.
NYOTA project is a five-year government initiative supported by the World Bank to empower youths through business growth, employment, and improvement of skills.

President William Ruto ordered the Ministry of Co-operatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development to disburse funds to successful applicants within two weeks.
Speaking on November 7th, during the launch of the NYOTA program in Kakamega County, Ruto said a total of 110,000 successful applicants were set to receive Ksh25,000 each.
“In the next ten days, we want to have completed this program. These funds should reach every beneficiary within the next ten days. I want to ask the ministry to work with our partners and make sure that within the next ten days, maximum two weeks, every young person who has been identified, 110,000 of them, each one of them should have gotten the first tranche of the resources so that we can elevate the business environment of our young people,” Ruto stated.

The head of state said that the government will repay the funds for the NYOTA project from World Bank.
However, he also urged the beneficiaries to use the money wisely to improve their livelihoods.
“I am standing before you to thank the World Bank for partnering with us in this initiative. The money we are giving out today is a loan from the World Bank, but it’s not for you to repay; the Government of Kenya will settle it later,” said Ruto.
