The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has issued a fresh weather forecast warning Kenyans of changing weather patterns between November 11th and 17th, 2025, highlighting alternating sunny and rainy conditions across various parts of the country.
According to the forecast released by the department, most parts of Kenya are likely to remain sunny and dry, though rainfall will still be experienced in some regions.
“Rainfall is expected in parts of the Central Highlands, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, Coastal region, South-Eastern Lowlands, Western, and North-Eastern Kenya,” the agency said in its statement.
The department cautioned that the changes may affect agricultural activities, travel plans, and even health conditions as temperatures vary sharply between day and night.

KMD noted that daytime temperatures above 30°C are expected in the Coastal, North-Eastern, and North-Western regions, as well as parts of the South-Eastern Lowlands and Western Kenya.
These high temperatures may intensify heat stress and dry conditions, especially in arid areas such as Turkana and Garissa.
Conversely, night-time temperatures below 10°C are expected in parts of the Central Highlands, Central Rift Valley, and areas surrounding Mt. Kilimanjaro.
The department advised residents to dress warmly during the night and early morning hours to prevent cold-related ailments.
In its review of the period between November 3rd and 9th, 2025, the department reported that rainfall was recorded in several parts of the country, with very heavy downpours exceeding 50mm in 24 hours in counties such as Makueni, Garissa, Kitui, Murang’a, and Migori.
“The Mbitini Station in Makueni County recorded the highest 24-hour rainfall of 70.4mm on November 8th,” the report stated.
The heavy rains were attributed to active moisture flow and localized convection over eastern and southern regions.
In temperature readings, Mandera recorded the highest daily maximum temperature of 38.4°C on November 3rd, while Nyahururu registered the lowest minimum temperature of 6.9°C on November 5th.
These figures illustrate the sharp climatic variations across the country during the review period.

The Met Department urged the public, farmers, and transport operators to stay alert and follow daily weather updates.
It also called on county governments to prepare for localized flooding in rainfall-prone regions and heatwaves in arid zones.
KMD reiterated that these forecast patterns are part of the short rain season, emphasizing that climate variability continues to influence Kenya’s weather.
“Kenyans should take note of the changing weather conditions and plan their activities accordingly,” the department advised.
