Itumbi Responds to Claims He Is Gachagua’s ‘State House Mole’

Head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy Dennis Itumbi has dismissed claims linking him to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, calling the allegations that he is Gachagua’s “State House mole” propaganda.

Responding to a question on which political party he intended to vie for the Gichugu parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election under, Itumbi rejected the claims, saying those behind the allegations were pushing a narrative that would ultimately fail.

“Ata wewe umevutwa kwa hii propaganda? Interesting. Lakini tell the authors hii ya Mole will NOT work,” Itumbi stated.

Itumbi Denies Being Gachagua’s Mole

Itumbi’s remarks come  after Gachagua alleged that he had moles, within State House, the Public Service and the National Intelligence Service (NIS), whom he claimed supplied him with information from inside government.

Gachagua has repeatedly maintained that the sources continue to keep him informed about developments within the Kenya Kwanza administration, although he has not publicly identified them.

More recently, claims about alleged “moles” within State House resurfaced on social media following the circulation of the government’s Vision 2060 document ahead of President William Ruto’s national address.

Some Kenyans speculated online that the leak may have originated from within government, with one user claiming, that someone had leaked information to Gachagua on what Ruto was set to address about.

However, Itumbi’s response appeared to distance himself from the claims, insisting that attempts to portray him as Gachagua’s “State House mole” were part of a propaganda campaign that would not work.

“I suspect there is a Rigathi Gachagua mole(s) in State House (the one who leaked Vision 2060), a document well crafted by Prof. Nyong’o and the team, based on constitutional preamble. These moles must be chased away. They have diluted President William Ruto’s National Address this evening. He should have waited until 12th. Chase these moles from State House. They are holding the president captive,” stated Abuga Makori.

From Ol Kalou to ‘State House Mole’ Claims

The latest exchange adds to a series of public disagreements between Itumbi and Gachagua.

In July 16, Itumbi appeared to respond to Gachagua through a video of himself juggling a football after the former deputy president accused him of coordinating groups to intimidate voters during the Ol Kalou by-election.

Gachagua alleged that Itumbi, alongside several Kenya Kwanza leaders, had been involved in organising “goons” to interfere with the by-election and claimed rogue police units were operating under their direction.

He further stated that the group had been holding coordination meetings at a Nairobi hotel, claims that Itumbi rejected.

Responding to the allegations, Itumbi urged Gachagua to accept the election outcome instead of accusing others of betrayal.

“Just dribble the ball the way the police are dribbling you… You’ve lost the vote. Accept it; a loss is a loss. Calling people traitors? Let me play ball,” Itumbi said in the video.
