Kenya Airways Appoints High Court Advocate Catherine Musakali as Board Director

Kenya Airways (KQ) has appointed Catherine Musakali, a governance expert and Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, as an independent non-executive director of the airline’s Board, effective July 29, 2026.

In a public notice issued on July 29, 2026, Kenya Airways announced that the company had selected Musakali to fill a casual vacancy on the Board.

The airline made the appointment pursuant to the Capital Markets (Securities) (Public Offers, Listing and Disclosures) Regulations 2023, issued under the Capital Markets Act.

“The Board of Directors of Kenya Airways Plc (“KQ”) hereby announces the appointment of Ms. Catherine Musakali, OGW, FCSK, FCIrb, as an independent non-executive director of the Company, effective 29th July 2026, to fill a casual vacancy on the Board,” Kenya Airways stated.

Catherine Musakali Brings Governance and Legal Expertise

Catherine Musakali joins the Kenya Airways Board with more than two decades of experience in law, corporate governance and leadership. She is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a Fellow of the Institute of Certified Secretaries of Kenya.

Additionally, she holds a Master of Laws degree from the University of Nairobi, a Post Graduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law, a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nairobi and a Certificate in Securities and Investment from the Securities and Investment Institute in the United Kingdom.

Furthermore, Musakali is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors (Kenya) and the Institute of Certified Secretaries of Kenya, where she also works as a Certified Governance Trainer and Board Evaluator.

Founder of Governance Consultancy Firm

Musakali founded Dorion Associates LLP, a firm that specialises in governance matters and commercial legal consultancies.

Before starting the firm, she worked in the oil industry for more than 15 years, gaining experience in different roles and jurisdictions.

Over the years, she has built a reputation as a corporate governance expert and has supported institutions in improving leadership structures and accountability frameworks.

Furthermore, Musakali has contributed to the development of corporate governance standards in Kenya by spearheading the creation of three corporate governance codes. She also serves on boards across private and public sectors.

Supporting Women’s Representation in Leadership

Beyond her professional achievements, Musakali has championed increased representation of women in corporate boardrooms.

She co-founded and chairs Women on Boards Network Kenya, a non-profit organisation that prepares and supports senior women seeking board positions.

Through the initiative, she has promoted opportunities for women to take up leadership roles in organisations and contribute to decision-making processes.

Kenya Airways Welcomes Board Appointment

Meanwhile, Kenya Airways said congratulated Musakali’s appointment to the board as her experience will strengthen its Board as the airline continues focusing on effective governance and strategic growth.

“The Board, Management and Staff of Kenya Airways Plc congratulates Ms. Catherine Musakali on her appointment and looks forward to her contribution in the stewardship of the Company,” the airline said.
