Nation Media Announces Fresh Regional Changes as Ageyo Moves to Uganda

Nation Media Group (NMG) has announced a change in leadership across its Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania operations, with seasoned journalist Dr Joe Ageyo appointed Editor-in-Chief of NMG Uganda as part of a wider editorial restructuring.

In a statement issued by Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Geoffrey Odundo, the media house said the appointments take effect immediately following a review of its editorial structure and evolving business requirements across the region.

In Uganda, Dr Ageyo will serve as Editor-in-Chief, while Washington Gikunju has been appointed Acting Managing Editor.

Additionally, the changes also extend to Tanzania, where James Smart has been named Acting Managing Editor for Broadcast and New Media at Mwananchi Communications Limited, NMG’s Tanzanian subsidiary.

NMG Kenya

In Kenya, Harry Misiko has been appointed Acting Editor-in-Chief to oversee the company’s editorial operations, while Dann Mwangi takes up the role of Acting Managing Editor for Print and New Media.

This change also saw John Kiplagat appointed Acting Managing Editor for Publishing, Justus Wanga named Acting Lead Editor for the Weekend Edition, Michael Owuor appointed Acting Lead Editor for the Daily Nation, and Ben Kitili taking over as Acting Lead Editor for Broadcasting.

In addition, Michael Omondi will serve as Acting Lead Editor for Business Daily, while Alex Ndegwa has been appointed Editor of the Content Hub.

The appointments affect some of NMG’s most prominent editorial leaders and are expected to shape newsroom operations across the company’s flagship brands in East Africa.

In the statement, Odundo congratulated the newly appointed leaders and urged employees across the Group to support them as they transition into their new responsibilities.
