Kenyan Model Ms Njasi Set for 24-Hour Guinness World Record Catwalk Attempt

Kenyan model Abigael Wakasa Njasi is set to attempt a Guinness World Record for the longest modelling marathon on a catwalk on Saturday, September 26, 2026.

Njasi, popularly known as Ms Njasi, will undertake the 24-hour catwalk challenge at Karen Village along Ngong Road in Nairobi, according to the event announcement.

The model is targeting the Guinness World Records category for the Longest Marathon Modeling on a Catwalk after pursuing the record following earlier setbacks.

Ms Njasi Explains Her Modelling Journey

Speaking to Kenya Signal Room on Thursday, September 3, Njasi explained how modelling became an important part of her life after she experienced grief.

“At first, it was just a way for me to alchemize my pain. I was going through grief and gradually it ignited life back in me,” she said.

Later, the model developed a deeper connection with the creative process because of the freedom it gave her to explore different sides of herself, tell stories and create experiences through movement and presence.

“What really made me connect with it was the freedom. I could explore different sides of myself, tell stories and create an experience through movement and presence,” she said.

Meanwhile, Njasi said street modelling gave her a different experience from conventional fashion spaces and allowed her to connect with people more directly.

“I think the street gave me freedom and real connection that a conventional runway couldn’t,” she said.

Additionally, she said modelling in public spaces allowed her to create without constantly comparing herself with conventional beauty standards.

“I wanted to create without constantly asking whether I fit someone else’s definition of beauty,” Njasi said.

Through that approach, public spaces have become a defining part of her modelling work.

How She Will Attempt the Guinness Record

For the 24-hour challenge, Njasi will remain on the catwalk while showcasing outfits from different designers.

Under the attempt’s rules, she will receive five minutes of rest for every completed hour, while each outfit change will take no more than three minutes.

Furthermore, the challenge will require a clearly visible timer, official witnesses, continuous video coverage, and documentation for verification, according to Kenya Signal Room.

Previous Guinness World Record Attempt

Earlier, Njasi had pursued another Guinness World Records category involving the longest runway in heels.

The EastAfrican reported in May that her application was rejected on a technicality. She subsequently pursued the marathon modelling category.

Despite that setback, Njasi continued developing her modelling career and preparing for the 24-hour challenge.

When asked how she would deal with exhaustion during the attempt, she pointed to the freedom she associates with her creative work.

“I’ll think of the freedom I have as a creative and feel free from exhaustion,” Njasi said.

Ahead of the Saturday record, Njasi hopes the challenge will communicate a message about pursuing unconventional creative paths.

“The moment should remind people that there’s always something for everyone, most of the times in the conventional way, but sometimes it is in the most unconventional and creative way,” she said.
