Motorcycle Allegedly Used to Ferry Gunman in Lawyer Mathew Kyalo Mbobu Murder Recovered

Detectives investigating the murder of lawyer Mathew Kyalo Mbobu have recovered a motorcycle believed to have been used to ferry the suspected gunman to and from the scene of the fatal shooting, marking another development in the ongoing case.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the motorcycle was recovered after the arrest of three suspects, including boda boda rider Nicholas Lemiso Naula, who is suspected of transporting the gunman on the day of the attack.

The lawyer Matthew, was fatally shot on September 9, 2025, and investigators have since been piecing together the events surrounding the killing.

The DCI said Naula told detectives during interrogation that he had been riding motorcycle registration number KMGL 516L when he allegedly ferried the gunman on the day of the shooting.

Investigations Of The Case

After the discovery, investigators launched efforts to trace the motorcycle by reconstructing its movements and establishing its ownership history.

Detectives followed what the DCI described as a succession of owners before eventually locating and recovering the motorcycle.

Additionally, the recovered motorcycle was then escorted to the Homicide Offices, where it is expected to undergo further examination as part of the investigation.

According to detectives, Naula later identified the recovered motorcycle as the one he had been riding during the very incident.

Evidence

This recovery adds to evidence that was already collected by investigators, who have also arrested a suspected gunman and two boda boda riders in connection with the case.

In addition, detectives have previously recovered motorcycles they allege were used both to transport the suspected gunman and to trail the victim before the attack.

The DCI said investigators are continuing to reconstruct the sequence of events leading to Mbobu’s killing while working to establish the roles of all individuals who are allegedly involved.

Authorities maintained that the investigation remains active, with detectives focused on determining the full circumstances surrounding the lawyer’s murder and gathering evidence that could support further legal action against those found to have been involved.
