The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced plans to decentralise its Inclusion Coordination Committees to the county level as part of efforts to enhance the participation of marginalised groups in electoral activities.
In a public notice, the Commission called on registered State and non-state organisations working with youth, women, persons with disabilities (PWDs) and ethnic minorities to register with their respective IEBC County Offices.
“This is a call to all registered State and Non-state organizations serving the Youth, Women, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and Ethnic Minorities and who wish to partner with IEBC in reaching out to these groups to register with their respective IEBC County Offices by Friday 30th October 2026 at 5.00 PM,” said the notice.
The registration deadline is Friday, October 30, 2026, at 5:00 p.m., with the initiative targeting organisations interested in partnering with the electoral agency to reach and engage the identified groups throughout the electoral cycle.
Move To Enhance Inclusivity
Additionally, IEBC said the move is aimed at enhancing inclusion and participation of marginalised groups and ethnic minorities in electoral activities.
Organisations that are seeking to register are required to submit their registration certificate, KRA PIN certificate and indicate the category they represent, including youth, women, PWDs or ethnic minorities.

They must also provide the name, telephone number, and email address of their contact person, their physical address, and the county in which they operate.
In addition, IEBC said that upon registration, each category will appoint team leaders who will work under the guidance of the respective IEBC County Election Managers.

This decentralisation comes as the IEBC continues preparations for the 2027 General Election, with the IEBC website currently highlighting initiatives aimed at strengthening electoral inclusion and stakeholder engagement.
