Latest Poll Reveals Leading Governor, Senator and MP Aspirants in Gachagua’s Home County and Constituency

A September 2026 poll by Politrack Africa has revealed the candidates leading the governor and senator races in Nyeri County and the parliamentary contest in Mathira Constituency.

The findings cover Nyeri County and Mathira Constituency, the political home of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Politrack Africa conducted separate polls for the three positions.

Thuo Mathenge Leads Nyeri Governor Poll

Thuo Mathenge topped the Nyeri County gubernatorial poll with 28.4% (1,815 votes), according to Politrack Africa.

Meanwhile, Peter Munyiri followed with 15.5% (988 votes), while Wahome Wamatinga secured 13.2% (840 votes).

Gichuki Mugambi attracted 11.4% (727 votes), followed by John Mwangi Munyiri with 6.1% (390 votes). Kinyua Wanjohi came next with 5.6% (360 votes).

Esther Murugi garnered 4.9% (313 votes), while Caroline Karugu received 4.2% (270 votes). David Kinaniri Waroe recorded 3.1% (198 votes).

Additionally, 2.8% (176 votes) of respondents remained undecided. Wangai Ndirangu received 2.1% (132 votes), while Dan Kibugu Kagwe garnered 1.9% (121 votes).

Others accounted for 0.9% (58 votes) as the poll surveyed 6,388 respondents.

Nick Mararo Leads  Senatorial Poll

Turning to the senatorial race, Nick Mararo led the Nyeri County poll with 22.7% (820 votes).

King’ori Wanjohi followed with 20.0% (724 votes), while Mutahi Kahiga ranked third after receiving 14.5% (525 votes).

Vincent Wamae came fourth with 14.4% (521 votes), followed by Kabando wa Kabando at 13.9% (505 votes).

Priscilla Nyokabi secured 8.9% (324 votes). Meanwhile, 4.0% (144 votes) of respondents remained undecided, while others accounted for 1.6% (56 votes).

Politrack Africa surveyed 3,619 respondents for the senatorial poll.

Peter Githinji Leads Mathira MP Poll

In the Mathira Constituency parliamentary race, Peter Githinji Njuki, popularly known as Tropical, led with 27.3% (1,074 votes).

Solomon Muriithi Maina followed with 19.5% (766 votes), while Eric Wamumbi secured 12.1% (477 votes).

Anthony Ndagita recorded 11.9% (470 votes), placing fourth, while Dominic Muraya followed with 9.5% (375 votes).

Maina Gateru also received 9.5% (375 votes), while Daniel Kiige garnered 8.5% (334 votes).

Only 1.4% (54 votes) of respondents remained undecided, while + others accounted for 0.3% (12 votes).

For the Mathira poll, Politrack Africa surveyed 3,937 respondents.

Overall, the September 2026 polls capture voter responses across three political contests in Nyeri County and Mathira Constituency.

The figures reflect responses recorded during the respective surveys and do not constitute official election results.
