Ruto Beats Sifuna, Kalonzo and Gachagua Combined in Latest Presidential Poll

President William Ruto has recorded 45.1% support in a presidential opinion poll released by research firm Politrack Africa on October 1, 2026.

The poll asked respondents: “If elections were held today, which presidential candidate will you vote for?”

According to the results, Ruto was followed by Edwin Sifuna, who recorded 19.6%, while Kalonzo Musyoka came third with 10.3%.

Rigathi Gachagua recorded 6.0% in the poll, meaning Sifuna, Kalonzo and Gachagua combined had 35.9% which is  9.2 percentage points below Ruto’s 45.1%.

Fred Matiang’i followed Gachagua with 7.2%, while 8.4% of respondents were undecided.

Other candidates included George Wajackoyah at 1.1%, Martha Karua at 0.8%, David Maraga at 0.8%, James Orengo at 0.4% and Jimmy Wanjigi at 0.3%.

Ruto Records 45.1% in Latest Presidential Poll, Sifuna 19.6%

Politrack Africa said the survey targeted potential voters across the country and used a text-based technology platform to invite sampled users to participate and answer questions at their convenience.

The survery stated that the sampling was structured at county level, with national estimates weighted according to each county’s share of registered voters.

It  involved 20,419 respondents and had a reported margin of error of plus or minus 3%, with a 95% confidence level. The registered-voter base used for weighting was 22,102,532 voters.

The report also measured political party and coalition preferences nationally.

According to the survery, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) recorded 32.0%, followed by the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) at 11.7% and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) at 10.6%.

Jubilee recorded 6.9%, Wiper 5.6%, Kenya Kwanza 3.5% and Azimio 3.2%.

The survey also found that 9.1% of respondents preferred not to state their party affiliation, while 7.3% said they supported no party and 2.3% were unsure.

Poll Reveals Mixed Views on Government Performance

Beyond presidential preferences, the poll asked respondents whether Kenya was moving in the right or wrong direction.

The report highlighted that 45.2% said the country was moving in the right direction, while 44.6% said it was moving in the wrong direction. and another 10.2% were not sure.

Politrack Africa also asked respondents to identify areas where the government was performing well and those where it was performing poorly.

Housing and roads each received 16.3% among sectors cited for the government’s best performance, followed by health services, SHIF and SHA at 13.0% and agriculture at 10.0%.

On areas viewed as having poor performance, fighting corruption received 19.2%, followed by health services, SHIF and SHA at 18.4%, and the economy and cost of living at 12.0%.
