Health Cabinet Secretary (CS) Aden Duale lost his cool after Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale questioned his academic qualifications.

In a statement on Sunday, September 8, Duale said his credentials are a matter of public record and National Assembly where he submitted his papers twice for vetting and are available in the official Hansard records and committee reports.

Duale said he has respect for Parliament and leadership but his attention at the moment is to work on pressing issues around health care sector.

“Senator, my academic papers are within the precincts of Parliament (Hansard and committee reports) and submitted to the vetting committee of the National Assembly twice. Discuss substance not personalities. I will always have respect for Parliament and its leadership. My focus is on Health reforms. Period,” Duale said.

Duale holds a Bachelor of degree in Education from Moi University focusing on Economics and History and master’s in business administration (MBA) from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology (JKUAT).

He began at Garissa Primary School (also called Boystown Primary School) and earned his Certificate of Primary Education (CPE) in 1981.

He then joined Garissa High School, completing his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) in 1985.

Duale attended Moi Forces Academy, where he attained his Kenya Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (KACSE) in 1987.

Khalwale Attacks Duale

This heated exchange comes after Senator Boni Khalwale raised alarm over Social Health Authority (SHA) for failing to cater good medical services for Kenyans.

According to Khalwale, he is a doctor by profession therefore he understands very well health sector.
Khalwale accused Duale for invading politics in new health scheme SHA and the old scheme National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).

“Mr. President, I’m a professional doctor, listen to me. Ruto, Kenyans don’t know what degree CS Duale has. He is playing politics with SHA and NHID,” Khalwale said.
