Kuria Claims DCP Hid Members from State House List to Get 10K

Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has alleged that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua influenced delegation lists for a recent State House meeting by concealing Democratic Change Party (DCP) members to secure cash rewards.

In a statement on Thursday, Kuria claimed that while accompanying several Murang’a leaders preparing delegations for the meeting, he was shocked to learn that DCP-linked leaders were requesting to be included in the official lists headed to State House.

“Fidelity to political ideology is key. On Thursday I was in the company of many Murang’a leaders who were preparing to take delegations to State House. What shocked me was the many DCP affiliated leaders who were calling the State House-bound leaders requesting them to ‘hide’ their members in their State House lists so they can benefit from the Ksh 10,000 bounty. I understand State House was 70% DCP Members. I think this is immoral. DCP keep your members out of State House. Be principled!” Kuria claimed.

Kuria further alleged that the arrangement was designed to manipulate representation at the meeting, portraying inflated support for the DCP.

Integrity of Murang’a Leaders Praised

Kuria also commended Murang’a County Assembly members, claiming they resisted efforts to buy their loyalty. According to him, the MCAs maintained integrity despite pressure.

“I want to salute the members of Murang’a County Assembly for their integrity and unwavering stand against corruption,” Kuria said, linking the alleged schemes to broader attempts to divide regional leadership.

His remarks suggested mounting tensions within the political establishment, with accusations of betrayal and manipulation directed toward key figures.

Gachagua Denies Allegations, Cites Bribery Attempt

However ,Gachagua has his own version of the State House meeting story.

He alleged that Murang’a MCAs had been offered money to take part in what he termed a staged political event at State House.

“They refused to accept a Ksh300,000 bribe to attend a staged comedy session at State House, where falsehoods were peddled and schemes to divide and betray the mountain were orchestrated,” Gachagua claimed.

Both sets of allegations remain unsubstantiated, with no physical evidence presented to support either side’s assertions.

The claims highlight deepening political rifts in the Mount Kenya region, raising questions about loyalty, bribery, and the alleged use of State House events for political maneuvering.
