A notorious drink-spiker has finally been arrested in Mombasa after being in the police radar for a while.

The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the man identified as Abdallah Suleiman, popurlarly known as Asuu was nabbed at Mariakani Weighbridge in Nairobi bound bus.

“His luck ran out at the Mariakani Weighbridge, where sharp-eyed detectives boarded a Nairobi-bound bus and ended his drugged-up heist spree,” said DCI.

Detectives put Suleiman on their radar and followed his footsteps after multiple reports highlighting series of stupefying and stealing cases were reported at Mombasa Central Police Station.

Suleiman is accused of drugging passengers in long-distance trips and robbing them cash, phones and other valuables while they slept.

DCI said  Suleiman has been coordinating scheme that involved lacing food and drinks with sedatives.

He would befriend the unsuspected passengers boarding along routes like Kisumu, Mombasa, Tanzania among other destinations before offering them spiked soft drinks that leads to lose of passengers consciousness and he steals from them.

“Asuu is the mastermind behind drugging unsuspecting passengers travelling to Mombasa, Kisumu, Tanzania and beyond, then robbing them of their hard-earned cash and valuables while they snooze,” said DCI.

What detectives recovered from the arrest scene

Detectives recovered several items believed to be used by the suspect in his drugging scheme mechanism.

Inside his bag of tricks, detectives found Lorivan 2 tablets, soft drinks, and snacks believed to be laced with sedatives, all ready for his next unsuspecting victims.

DCI said these are the items he applies to the victims before stealing from them when they are not aware.

Asuu has been put behind the bars cooling his heels as detectives prepare for his arraignment in court of law.
