Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s political future is at a crossroads with Kenyans divided on his next move.
According to TIFA poll data, most Kenyans want ODM leader Raila Odinga to support President William Ruto re-election in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
TIFA survey reveals that 32 percent of Kenyans want Raila to support Ruto’s re-election.
TIFA has stated that this move is influenced by Broad-based government whereby Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party signed up Memorandum of Understanding deal as framework to work together in government.
TIFA surveys highlights that UDA party remains the most popular political party across the country with 16 percent support followed with ODM at 13 percent.
According to TIFA, 23 percent of Kenyans feel that Raila will walk away from the Broad-based government and rejoin the opposition side and contest for presidency.
Ok the other hand, 17 percent of Kenyans confidently feels that Raila will walk out of Broad-based government and rejoin the opposition and this time he will support another candidate.
Another 14 percent of kenyans says that Raila will have retired from active politics and will not take part in the elections in 2027.
On September 22, 2025, Raila urged his supporters to remain calm until 2027 when he will give the way forward.
Speaking while in Machakos County, he said that there’s no place they signed a deal beyond 2027.
“Look at what we have signed. We must remain ODM. We signed and agreed that we will work together up to 2027,” said Raila.
Raila urged members to commit things that has only been discussed by the party.
