Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has unveiled a new Electronic Rental Income Tax System (eRITS) to facilitate easier payment of Monthly Rental Income (MRI).
The new system will help in managing property, filing returns for taxpayers and payment of rental taxes through Monthly Rental Income (MRI) in a simple, transparent and convenient way.
“Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) wishes to notify the public that it has rolled out an Electronic Rental Income Tax System (eRITS) which will facilitate easier payment of Monthly Rental Income (MRI). The system enables management of properties, filing and payment of rental taxes in a simple and convenient way,” said KRA.
KRA has urged individuals and companies owning rental properties and earning rental income to log in to its portal via eCitizen platform and update their property details.
KRA also provided a link through which all services of eRITS can be accessed via the KRA website https://erits.kra.go.ke or the eCitizen public portal.
Taxpayers experiencing difficulties and challenges with registration or filing have been advised to reach KRA through the contact centre, via WhatsApp on 0711 099 999, by email at contactcentre@kra.go.ke, or by visiting the nearest KRA office.
How to Create and Use the eRITS Portal
Create an Account
Log in to your eCitizen portal and navigate to eRITS and sign in.
Register Your Properties
Click on the register button and insert details of the rental property you own.
File Rental Income Returns
Fill your monthly rental income in the system .
Pay Rental Income Tax
Initiate payments through the system by using mobile money, debit or credit cards or bank transfers.
