Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has revealed the position of the Jubilee Party ahead of the 2027 election.
Speaking during the NDC on September 26, Uhuru said Jubilee Party remains part of the Azimio La Umoja Coalition that it joined before the 2022 general election.
Uhuru explained that he is a straightforward person and his position about the Azimion Coalition remains the same unless the Party leadership decides otherwise at the right time.
“In 2022, the Party resolved to join the Azimio La Umoja Coalition because, as party leader, I was then and remain convinced that the Coalition and its members share a common vision for our country. Since then, the Azimion has undergone changes,” Uhuru said.
“The Jubilee Party remains a member of what is left of the Azimio Coalition, and any decision on whether to reinvest in it or leave it will be a matter for the party leadership to consider when the time comes.”
However, Uhuru said Jubilee Party is preparing for the next election and will have candidates for all elective positions.
He stated that Jubilee will either work alone or join forces with like-minded political parties in the next polls.
“Like any other political party, we shall be preparing for the next general election, and it remains our firm intention to field the best possible candidates for all elective positions. We will do this on our own or with like-minded political movements,” he said.
He said that the rejuvenated Jubilee Party should achieve two immediate results.
First is to provide a suitable platform for visionary aspiring leaders to offer themselves up in the service of their nations.
Uhuru said the second outcome is for Kenyans to be present with a vibrant set of options from which to elect leaders of their choice in accordance with the Constitution.
He said the Jubilee Party will launch a nationwide recruitment drive as part of the preparations for the next election.
Uhuru also highlighted the achievements of the Jubilee Party during his two terms in office.
He stated that the current regime has removed his gains and replaced them with new ones that have not be tested.
“Today, many of the gains we had in the past have been eroded, Linda Mama and others, replaced by new, untried, untested schemes. While we wait for these experiments to work, Kenyans suffer,” he said.
