The Jubilee Party held a Special National Delegates Convention (NDC) on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the Jockey Club, Ngong Racecourse in Nairobi, in a meeting chaired by the party leader and former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The convention brought together party officials, delegates, and supporters to review the party’s future and reaffirm its place in the country’s political landscape.

Speaking during the event, Uhuru revealed how how he faced threats alongside the Jubilee Party and his family members.

However, Uhuru did not reveal the identities of the people who threatened members of the Jubilee Party and the Kenyatta family.

“Three years ago, at the end of the hotly contested general elections, we faced an atmosphere of hostility not only to our party but also to me, members of my family and members of my administration. But despite that, I stood at this same venue, ready to begin a process that should have been normal in any mature democracy. A process of rejuvenating our party and infusing it with new leadership,” Uhuru said.

Uhuru Message to Jubilee Party Members

In his address, Kenyatta urged Jubilee members to remain focused on the party’s ideals and learn from both achievements and failures of the past.

“As a leader, you succeed by looking at past successes, injecting new ideas, and improving upon them. You fail by ignoring past mistakes and falling into the folly of repeating them,” said the former Head of State.

Warning Against Politics of Division

Kenyatta emphasised the need for sobriety in politics, cautioning against resentment and division.

“In politics, you can never be led by bitterness, anger or hate. That only deviates you from your mission and vision,” he told the delegates, drawing applause from the gathering.

Reflecting on the country’s transition of power, Kenyatta expressed disappointment in how his peaceful handover was received.

“After having handed over the reins of State to a new administration in a peaceful and orderly manner, I expected the same; unfortunately, this was not to be,” he remarked, without delving into specific details but signaling discontent over the treatment of Jubilee under the current regime.

Kioni Outlines Opposition Role

The Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni also addressed the delegates, underscoring the party’s role in shaping the opposition and preparing for a political comeback.

“We have a party and a country to rescue. We are part of the opposition, and we are here to take over the government next time when it becomes available,” Kioni said, affirming the party’s resolve to challenge the ruling administration.

The NDC comes at a time when Jubilee has been working to reassert itself after internal wrangles and declining influence in the aftermath of the 2022 General Election.

By convening the convention, the leadership sought to present a united front and assure members of the party’s long-term relevance in Kenya’s shifting political environment.

The event marked a renewed effort by Kenyatta and Kioni to re-energize Jubilee, rebuild structures, and strengthen its opposition role ahead of the next electoral cycle.
