Kenya Met Lists Counties to Receive Rainfall in the Last 5 Days of September

The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has published a five-day weather outlook for the period between September 27th to October 1st, 2025.

According to a forecast issued on September 26, Kenya Met stated that rainfall is expected in several parts of the country, like Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley and North-western Kenya.

Maximum average temperatures are to be 32°C while minimum average temperatures are expected to be at 08°C in some parts of the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin.

Highlands West of the Rift Valley and Lake Victoria Basin

These regions have counties like Siaya, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Nandi, Busia, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, West-Pokot, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori and Narok Counties.

Morning rains are expected to occur in a few places, and in the afternoons there will be showers and thunderstorms over several places.

In the night, showers will occur in a few places.

North-western Kenya

This region comprises Turkana and Samburu counties. They will experience morning rains.

In the afternoon, there will be showers in a few places in Turkana and Samburu, and thereafter, nights will be partly cloudy.

Kenya Met said these regions will experience average maximum temperatures of 36°C and average minimum temperatures of 07°C.

North-Eastern Kenya

These region consists of only five counties, that is Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo.

Sunny intervals are expected both in the morning and afternoon. Night will be partly cloudy.

Maximum average temperatures are 38°C, while minimum average temperatures are 14°C.

Highlands East of the Rift Valley 

Kenya Met said there will be cloudy conditions breaking into sunny intervals in the morning, and showers will follow in the afternoon in a few places.

Night will likely be partly cloudy.

Average maximum temperatures are 31°C and average minimum temperatures are 05°C.

South-Eastern lowlands 

Counties in these regions are Kitui, Machakos, Makueni, Kajiado and Taita-Taveta Counties, as well as the inland parts of Tana-River County.

Morning and afternoon will likely experience sunny intervals, while at night it will be partly cloudy.

Average maximum temperatures are 32°C, while average minimum temperatures are 11°C.

Coast 

Morning, afternoon and night will experience sunny intervals respectively. Average maximum temperatures are 32°C, while average minimum temperatures are 21°C.

Coastal counties are Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale Counties, as well as the coastal parts of Tana River.
