President William Ruto’s daughter, Charlene Ruto, represented Kenya at the Apimondia Congress 2025 International Meeting of Beekeepers.
The meeting concluded successfully, with innovators and young apiculture enthusiasts all over the world present.
Charlene who was among the participants described the gathering as “one for the books”calling it a distinct honour to represent the beekeeping value chain at such a prestigious forum.
“The innovations , creativity and honey tasting tingled my senses and took me back to the first time I opened a hive and fell in love with bees ,” she said .
African Beekeepers Chart the Future
Through Apimondia President Dr. Jeff Pettis, African delegates held their first 25-year strategic meeting at the Congress.
David Mukomana, the Regional Commissioner for Africa led discussions aimed at defining,” the Africa we want as beekeepers and stakeholders in bee keeping and honey value chains.”
Bright Prospects for Youth
The participants emphasized that young people were the future of apiculture.
“The future is bright and buzzing for young people in the apiculture sector,” Charline confirmed pointing out to the influx of youthful vitality and creativity to be experienced at the apiculture congress.
The Apimondia Congress 2025 did not just involve honey and hives, but a collective African outlook on enhancing bee keeping and honey production in the continent over the next quarter century.
