Kenya Met Issues Weather Forecast for the First Week of October

The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has published a seven-day weather outlook for the period between September 30, to October 6, 2025.

In the Forecast published on September 29, Kenya Met said most parts of the country are likely to be sunny and dry.

However, rainfall is expected in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley and North-western Kenya. Isolated heavy rainfall events may occur over some parts of these regions.

Daytime maximum average temperatures above 30°C are likely to be experienced in the Coast, North-eastern and North-western Kenya.

During night-time Kenya Met said minimum average temperatures are expected to be less than 10°C in some parts of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, the Central Rift Valley and in the vicinity of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

The Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley

This region comprises of counties like Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, West-Pokot, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori and Narok Counties.

Kenya Met said Morning rains are likely to occur over few places while showers and thunderstorms are expected over several places in the afternoon.

During night-time, showers are likely to occur over few places occasionally spreading through several places.

North-western Kenya

Turkana and Samburu counties will experience rains in the morning and afternoon.

During the night, showers and thunderstorms are likely to occur over few places.

North-eastern Kenya

This region sums up to a total of five counties namely; Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo.

Weatherman said most counties will likely to experience sunny intervals during the day and nights will be partly cloudy.

However, few areas of Marsabit county is likely to experience rains in the morning and afternoon with showers in the night during the second half of the forecast period.

 The Highlands East of the Rift Valley

This region has counties like Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi and Nairobi

Kenya Met said occasional cloudiness is expected in the mornings giving way to sunny intervals.

In the Afternoon showers are likely to occur over few places during the first half of the forecast period increasing to several places thereafter.

During the night, most areas are expected to be partly cloudy but showers may occur over few places.

The South-eastern lowlands

This region has counties like Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado and Taita-Taveta Counties as well as the inland parts of Tana-River.

Sunny intervals are expected during the day while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.

However, Kenya Met has also issued possibility of morning rains as well as afternoon and night showers occurring in a few areas in Machakos and Kajiado Counties during the second half of the forecast period.

The Coast

Coast has Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale Counties as well as the coastal parts of Tana-River counties

Sunny intervals are expected during the day while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.

Morning showers are likely to occur over few places.
