Ministry Announces Permanent Driver Jobs with Monthly Pay of KSh 31,000

The State Department for Public Service and Human Capital Development has declared permanent jobs for drivers.

In a formal notice issued on September 30, 2025, the State Department of Public Service announced 100 vacancies and invited applications from qualified persons for the position of Driver II, CSG 15.

Requirements for Appointment

All interested applicants are required to meet the following credentials

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Mean Grade of D plain or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • A valid driving License free from any current endorsement (s) for class (es) of vehicle (s) an officer is required to drive.
  • Attended a First-Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week at St. John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution.
  • Passed Suitability Test Grade III.
  • Police Clearance Certificate.
  • At least two (2) years driving Experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

Qualified applicants will have the following responsibilities and duties to carry on as directed.

1.Driving a motor vehicle as authorized.

2.Carrying out routine checks on the vehicle’s cooling, oil, electrical and brake systems.

3.Maintenance of work tickets for the vehicles assigned.

4.Ensuring security and safety for the vehicle on and off the road.

5.Ensuring safety of the passengers and/or goods therein.

6.Maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle.

Terms and Conditions of the Service

Salary Scale of this service ranges from Ksh19,340 – 24,470 per month with a House Allowance which is determined by the region an individual has been deployed.

Drivers will also receive commuter allowance of Ksh3,000 per month and leave allowance of Ksh4,000 per year.

According to the Ministry, this service is permanent.

What Applicants should note

  • State of Public Service will only contact shortlisted candidates.
  • All the shortlisted candidates shall be required to produce originals of their National Identity Card, Academic Certificates and other testimonials during interviews.
  • Presentation of fake certificates/documents will be charged as criminal offense.
