In the same month, sifted maize flour (2 kg) reduced by a margin of 2.79 to Ksh152.28 and in kale-sukuma wiki, (1 kg) fell by a margin of 1.38 to Ksh92.48. Sugar (1 kg) also reduced slightly taking it from Ksh186.53 to Ksh185.21.

The prices of kerosene/paraffin (1 litre) declined marginally from Ksh156.76 to Ksh155.96, and gas/LPG (13 kg) contracted slightly by Ksh3,158.35 to Ksh3,151.65.
There was varying trend in energy and fuel prices.

In September 2025, Kenya experienced an inflation rate of 4.6 percent that is compared to 4.5 percent in August.
Inflation on a month to month basis was 0.2 percent.
The primary contributors to the increase in the rate of inflation were food and non-alcoholic beverages, transport, housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels.
Food and non-alcoholic beverages-they contributed to the inflation because they constitute the highest expenditure in homes.
Staple foods like cabbages, vegetables and other basic needs also have significant effect on overall inflation since they are purchased on daily basis despite the fact that sugar and maize prices dropped in September, cabbages and other fresh products kept driving the inflation.
Transport -Fuel prices have a significant impact too on transport costs.
It includes the public fares as well as vehicle running costs which are directly transferred to the consumers in the form of fuel costs.
Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels are utilities that households cannot live without.
Electricity tariffs increased both to small and large domestic consumers in September with only small decreases in LPG and kerosene. This led to the overall inflation rate.
