The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has announced the successful resolution of the labour matter with the Kenya Aviation Workers Union (KAWU).
In a statement on Wednesday, October 1, KAA Acting Managing Director/CEO
Dr. Mohamud Gedi said the seven-day strike notice issued by the union on September 23, 2025, has been called off following constructive and collaborative deliberations.
“This positive outcome is a result of several consultations and productive discussions held between the Kenya Airports Authority, the Kenya Aviation Workers Union, and the relevant Government Ministries, ” Gedi said.
The Authority extended its gratitude to the KAA Board of Directors, led by the Chairman Hon. Caleb Kositany, The Ministry of Roads and Transport and The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection for their facilitative role in the talks. We also thank KAWU for their constructive engagement throughout the process.
“Passengers, airlines, and partners can be assured of our commitment to excellent customer experience across all KAA-managed airports,” he added.
The Authority remains dedicated to upholding the highest standards of safety, security, and service excellence.
KAA acknowledged the receipt of a strike notice issued by the KAWU on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
In statement dated September 29, KAA said it was working to resolve the matter and assured the public of uninterrupted airport operations
“The Authority wishes to assure all passengers, airlines, and partners that our airports continue to operate as normal,” Gedi said.
“Our primary focus remains on upholding the highest standards of safety, security, and service excellence across all our facilities.”
