The Wiper Democratic Movement has come out strongly to defend its party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, against what it termed as “malicious and reckless” claims made by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) regarding Raila Odinga’s health.

In a statement released by Wiper Secretary General Shakila Aballa, the party dismissed ODM’s remarks as, “political theatre” and “an act of desperation from a once-respected movement that has lost both its moral compass and political relevance.”

The Wiper Party categorically stated that Kalonzo Musyoka harbours no ill will toward Raila Odinga, emphasizing that the two leaders have shared a long history of “cooperation and mutual respect.”

“Any suggestion that Kalonzo Musyoka wishes harm upon Raila is malicious, reckless, and utterly false,” Aballa said.

She accused ODM of dragging the Wiper leader into its internal wrangles, describing it as a, “weak distraction from the cracks splitting the so-called Broad-Based Government they now defend so blindly.”

The statement sought to distance Wiper from ODM’s recent uproar over alleged misinformation on Raila’s health, terming the party’s response as misplaced and politically motivated.

ODM Accused of Betraying Reform Ideals

The Wiper Party further accused ODM of abandoning its reformist ideals and aligning itself with President William Ruto’s administration, which it blamed for “bloodshed, economic ruin, and repression.”

“It is a mockery of the nation’s intelligence that ODM, once a beacon of reform, now finds comfort in the pits of hell with a regime that butchered our young people during the Gen Z protests and continues to abduct online critics in the dead of night,” the statement read.

According to Aballa, ODM’s decision to work alongside the government was both “shameful and unforgivable,” arguing that the party had betrayed the Kenyan people and “become co-authors of the nation’s suffering.”

Kalonzo on Raila’s AU Loss

Addressing claims that Kalonzo played a role in Raila’s failed African Union Commission Chairmanship bid, Wiper dismissed the allegation, instead blaming the loss on what it termed as “diplomatic blunders” by the Kenyan government.

“Raila’s defeat was not Kalonzo’s doing. It was a reflection of the government’s lack of strategy and credibility on the continental stage,” Aballa said, adding that ODM’s attempt to “rewrite history” only exposed its fear and guilt.

Stern Warning

Concluding the statement, Wiper maintained that Kalonzo Musyoka remains steadfast in his commitment to justice, truth, and freedom, warning ODM not to drag him into “their self-inflicted political decay.”

“No one—absolutely no one—will drag Kalonzo Musyoka into their desperation,” Aballa asserted.

“He stands for a Kenya that values life and liberty over expediency, money, and power.” The SG lamented.
