Govt Establishes 92 New Police Stations Countrywide

The Government of Kenya has officially established a total of 92 new Police Stations countrywide, indicating a significant boost to the country’s law enforcement infrastructure.

Outlined in the Gazette Notice No.14272 and ratified by Inspector General Douglas Kanja on September 8,. 2025, the directive takes immediate effect under the National Police Service Act(Cap.84).

These newly commissioned stations, strategically located across all regions, are solely intended to boost policing coverage, rapid response times, and enhance public safety at all cost.

They sprawl key areas, including transport corridors, border zones,railways stations, airports, and both rural and urban counties.

“The establishments designated in the schedule are hereby recognized as Police Stations for the purpose of the Act,” read the Gazette notice.

The newly gazetted stations span from Liboi in Garissa County to Kisumu Railport, covering key sub-counties such as Turkana East, Laikipia, Kajiado, Machakos, and Marsabit

The IG Kanja emphasized that the designations officially take effect under the National Police Service Act, making each listed establishment a fully recognized police station.

The rollout is part of wider reforms to modernize Kenya’s policing blueprint with emphasis on digital mapping , accessibility, and national security outreach.
