Kenya African National Union (KANU) party chairman Gideon Moi has dropped out of the Baringo Senatorial by-election race in November.
KANU Secretary General George Wainaina has confirmed that the party will not field a candidate.
Nation reported that Gideon Moi opted to drop his bid after a meeting with President Ruto at State House.
It is reported that Moi was accompanied by George Wainaina and former Baringo Woman Representative Gladwell Cheruiyot.
State House officials who spoke to The Standard said Moi agreed to shelve his bid but asked for time to consult with other party officials before making official announcement.
Moi was expected to present his nomination papers at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) offices in Kabarnet town between 11:00am and 2:00pm but he failed to show up.
His supporters waited for him at the Baringo Airstrip where he was expected to land before proceeding to the IEBC papers.

Tension gripped Kabarnet town as a section of youth took to the streets to protests Moi’s failure to appear.
The protestors who wore red KANU branded T-shirts chanted slogans in favour of Moi.
They claimed that there were forces who pushed Moi to drop out of the race.

Moi was expected to present his papers earlier today but the process delayed causing fears among his supporters.
In a video seen Hivileo several bodaboda riders could be seen leaving the scene after reports emerged that Moi was not coming.
