The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has released the latest status update on Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) of week 2.

IEBC has expressed concerns over the low turnout of targeted youths across all 290 constituency offices.

In a press release dated October 10, IEBC confirmed that as of October 8th, it had registered 20,754 new voters.

Out of this, 3,207 individuals have managed to transfer their voting details from one place to another, while 61 voters have updated their details.

“As of October 8th, 2025, the ongoing CVR exercise has recorded the cumulative data indicated as, newly registered voters 20,75, transfers 3,207, updates 61,” read part notice.

Earlier, before the start of this exercise, the IEBC targeted registering 6.3 million new voters, the majority of whom are youths.

Call to Action

The Commission has urged Kenyans to register as voters and make their voices count in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

“IEBC calls upon all eligible citizens—especially young people who have recently attained voting age—to visit the nearest constituency office and register,” IEBC stated.

The continuous voter registration exercise is articulated in Article 88 of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.

The commission called out eligible Kenyans who qualify to vote and have not yet registered as voters to use this opportunity.

It appreciated Kenyans who have already registered, updated their details, and transferred their voting details.

“The Commission appreciates the many Kenyans who have already registered, updated their details, or transferred their voter records. Your participation is vital in strengthening the foundation of free, fair, and credible elections,” read part of the notice.
