The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a temporary traffic disruption on the Thika Superhighway (both service lanes) at Kihunguro.
In a notice on October 13, KeNHA said the section will be closed for two months from October 20th to December 20th.
“KeNHA wishes to notify the public that a section of Thika Superhighway (A2) Road at Kihunguro will experience traffic disruption along the Nairobi and Thika-bound service lanes from Monday, 20th October, 2025, to Saturday, 20th December, 2025,” KeNHA said.
KeNHA said the closure is to allow for the construction works of the Kihunguro footbridge column bases and stub columns at the section.
“KeNHA advises motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan below and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site.”

This comes after KeNHA announced that the Njoro-Mau Summit (B129) Road will be closed from Thursday, October 16th, to Thursday, November 6th, 2025, to allow for pavement reconstruction works.
In a statement on October 9, KeNHA said the closure point is about 1 km past the Keringet Factory and 2 km before Molo Town.

The Authority said a diversion has been identified for use during this period.
However, due to a sharp restricted curve, lorries and long trucks will not be allowed to use it.

“Motorists operating such vehicles are advised to use alternative routes. In particular, those heading to Molo and Mau Summit are advised to use the Nakuru-Mau Summit (A8) Road via Kibunja Junction, as indicated in the attached route map,” KeNHA said.
KENHA also appealed to all road users to follow the proposed traffic management plan for their safety.
