Kenya Met Department Lists Counties Set to Receive Rainfall and Thunderstorms Over the Next Five Days

The Kenya Meteorological Department (Kenya Met) has issued a five-day weather forecast from week October 14–18, 2025.

In the publication dated October 13, 2025, Kenya Met warned about continued rainfall and thunderstorms in certain parts of the country.

The Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley

This region comprises counties such as Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot.

Kenya Met said in the morning of October 14th, this region will experience sunny intervals that will later change to rain over a few places from October 15 to the final day of the forecast.

Showers and thunderstorms will occur over a few places in the afternoon, while at night, the region will likely be partly cloudy.

Maximum average temperature will be around 32°C, while minimum average temperatures will range at 08°C.

North-western

Turkana and Samburu Counties will experience sunny intervals during the morning, and rain will occur over a few places on the last day of the forecast.

In the afternoon, sunny intervals will likely occur, and later during nighttime, it will be partly cloudy.

Maximum average temperatures will be not less than 35°C.

Minimum average temperatures will dip to 08°C.

Highlands East of the Rift Valley

This region has counties like Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka Nithi, and Nairobi.

Kenya Met said clouds will break into sunny intervals in the morning during the first half of the forecast, and there will be a chance of rain during the last half of the forecast.

On the first day of the forecast in the afternoon, the region is likely to experience sunny intervals and give a chance of showers over a few places for the remaining forecast period.

Maximum average temperatures will be not less than 28°C.

Minimum average temperatures will dip to 06°C.

North-eastern

This region has five counties: Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo

In the morning, sunny intervals will likely be experienced, which will give a chance of rain over a few places in the last half of the forecast.

Sunny intervals will occur in the afternoon and will change to showers in the last half of the forecast.

Nights will be partly cloudy during the first half of the forecast and will give a chance to showers in the last days.

Maximum average temperatures will not be less than 33°C.

Minimum average temperatures will range from 16°C.

South-eastern lowlands

It comprises Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta Counties as well as

inland parts of Tana River County.

Kenya Met said sunny intervals will occur in the morning.

Sunny intervals will also occur in the afternoon.

During the nighttime, it will be partly cloudy.

Maximum average temperatures will not be less than 32°C, while minimum average temperatures will not be less than 12°C.

Coast

Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale Counties, as well as coastal parts of Tana River County, are counties of the coastal region.

Morning showers are likely to occur over a few places, except on October 15, when sunny intervals will occur.

In the afternoon, sunny intervals will be experienced in the first half of the forecast, while showers will occur during the last half of the forecast.

Nights will be partly cloudy with maximum average temperatures ranging from 32°C.

Minimum average temperatures will not be less than 22°C.
