The office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) has made a move towards the enhancement of the vibrant political space in Kenya by registering five new political parties.
The move aims to make the political representation and diversity stronger before the upcoming/future elections.
The ORPP gave a notice that it is considering the applications of the new parties in accordance with the provisions of section 5(2) (a) of the Political Parties Act (PPA).
The office said that inclusivity, accountability, and transparency are encouraged in the way Political organisations are run as a result of the registration process.
The newly proposed political parties include:
1.National People’s Voice (NPV)
Party colours:Gray Blue and Gold
Symbol:A Voice Icon from a person
Slogan: Our Voice ,Our Strength
Founders: Ocharo Shem, Ann Wanjiru Mwangi, Joan Mbode Ziro,Bosco Muteigi Kiura,Edwin Chesio Chomoyoi , Jeremiah Nyakundi and Job Orina Okatch
2.National Restoration Movement (NRM)
Party Colours: Light Green,Red,White and Yellow
Symbol:Remote control
Slogan:”Upendo na Amani(Love and Peace)
Founders:Sarah Abdullahi Ilmi Bodle,Collis Nyatichi Mogire, Duncan Bosire Paul
3.People Renaissance Movement (PM)
Party colours:Deep Blue,Bright Red and White
Symbol: Hummingbird
Slogan:The Change We Need
Founders:Doufold Ndenga Livanzo Odanga, Margaret Sesii Bevaline Achieng Otaga, Sarah Email and Paul Mutungi Kalungu.

4: Freedom and Opportunity Party(FOP)
Party colours: Turquoise Blue,Navy Blue,Red
Symbol:Compass
Slogan: Together We Rise, Together We Prosper
Founders: Dean Ndisii, Emily Nderi, Nelson Musangi, Richard Makani, Lucia Loko, Job Munene, Jacob Bwanan
5. Prosperity Alliance Party(PALL)
Party colours: Ultramarine Blue, Cherry Red, Black
Symbol: Switch
Slogan: Uongozi wa Maendeleo (Leadership for Development)
Founders: Catherine Cheptoo Matingwony, Margaret Mwendo Ngundo, Brian Warudi Wangechi, Kipkirui Ronoh.

The office of the Registrar of Political Parties issued a notice by Sophia Sitati, who advised Kenyans to visit the information about the proposed parties on the ORPP website and send objections within seven days of the notice.
She noted that the registration process supports the principles of transparency as well as all the parties fulfilling the requirements established in the Political Parties Act.
When in full force, the five parties will be added to the list of political parties in Kenya where they will bring new voices and potential alliances into the democratic arena of the country as it approaches future elections.
