A Kiambu court has sentenced Rogers Onyango to life imprisonment after he was found guilty of defiling a 10-year-old girl at Gachie Trading Centre in November 2022.

The conviction follows a successful Prosecution by Mr. Arnold Baraka, who presented compelling evidence that proved the case beyonda  reasonable doubt.

According to court proceedings, the victim’s mother reported her daughter missing on the evening of 5th November 2022 after she failed to return home.

Later that night, a concerned member of the public alerted police officers after hearing the child’s screams.

Upon responding, the officers found the accused at the scene, naked, after committing the offence.

He was immediately arrested and taken into custody. In delivering the judgment, the court commended the swift action by members of the public, the police, and the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in ensuring that justice was served.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) reaffirms its commitment to pursuing justice for victims of sexual and gender-based violence, emphasizing that such offences against minors will continue to be prosecuted vigorously under the law.
