Equity Bank has updated its earlier communication regarding branch operations, announcing that its three Kisumu branches will remain closed on Saturday, October 18, 2025, in honour of the late former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga.
In a statement released on Friday, the bank confirmed that the closure affects Kisumu Main (Oginga Odinga Street), Kisumu Angawa (Angawa Street), and Kisumu Supreme (Milimani, Okore Road) branches.
The lender emphasized that this decision was made to recognize and honour the memory of the departed national leader who played a significant role in Kenya’s democratic and reform journey.
“The decision has been made in recognition of this moment to the people of Kisumu and the nation at large,” the statement read.

Equity further noted that the three Kisumu branches will also remain closed on Monday, October 20, 2025, in observance of Mashujaa Day.
Normal banking operations are expected to resume on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.
