Kenya Met Lists Areas to Receive Rainfall This Week

The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has issued a seven-day weather forecast indicating that rainfall is expected to increase across several parts of the country between October 21 and 27, 2025.

According to the advisory shared on the department’s official X handle, rainfall will be experienced over the Central Highlands (including Nairobi), the Lake Victoria Basin, Western Kenya, the South-Eastern Lowlands, the Rift Valley, and parts of North-Western Kenya.

“Rainfall is likely to increase this week across several parts of the country. Isolated heavy rainfall events may occur over some parts of these regions, residents are advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions,” the department stated.

Temperature Fluctuations Expected Across Regions

In the same forecast, KMD cautioned that some areas will experience high daytime temperatures while others may record unusually cold nights.

“Daytime (maximum) temperatures above 30°C are expected in the Coastal, North-Eastern, and North-Western regions,” the agency noted.

Conversely, “Night-time (minimum) temperatures below 10°C may occur in parts of the Central Highlands, the Central Rift Valley, and areas near Mt. Kilimanjaro.”

Residents in these regions are advised to take appropriate measures, including staying hydrated in hotter areas and keeping warm in the colder highland zones.

Review of Last Week’s Weather Patterns

In its review of the previous week (October 13–19, 2025), the department reported that rainfall had been recorded over the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley itself, and the Lake Victoria Basin.

Eldoret Meteorological Station recorded the highest 24-hour rainfall amount of 40.0 mm on October 19, while Mandera experienced the highest daily maximum temperature of 38.0°C on October 13.

Meanwhile, Nyahururu Meteorological Station registered the lowest daily minimum temperature of 4.6°C on October 14.

KMD urged Kenyans to consult the full seven-day forecast available on its website, meteo.go.ke, for detailed rainfall distribution and intensity maps to help plan their activities.

The department emphasized continued monitoring of changing weather patterns, noting that timely updates will be shared to ensure public safety and preparedness.
