Kisumu Vice Chair of the Orange Democratic Movement Party (ODM) has banned former Deputy Rigathi Gachagua and his team from stepping into Bondo.

During a press briefing on October 22, 2025, the ODM team condemned Gachagua ‘s visit to the region.

However, he urged his team and supporters to remain calm as they approached the matter with a sober mind.

This comes after Nyeri County Governor, Mutahi Kahiga, celebrated the death of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who died on October 15th, 2025.

ODM leaders have condemned those remarks.

“As the Vice Chair of ODM in this region, I want to associate my sentiments with those made by my chair, Governor Gladys Wanga, and the colleagues members of Parliament, and I want to say as ODM Members in this region, we want to urge our members to stay calm as we approach this issue with a sober mind,” he said.

Gachagua was expected to visit Raila’s home to pay his tribute and console the family after failing to show up on the burial day.

They warned him not to dare to step into Bondo until they resolve this matter that has created public outrage across the country.

Kahiga is a close ally of the former DP, and his reckless sentiments have also thrown Gachagua into the mix.

“We had yesterday, Gachagua and his team were supposed to pay homage to the home of Raila Odinga, we urge Gachagua never, never, don’t step in Bondo as your statements are not very friendly with us members of ODM,” he added.

What Mutahi Kahiga Said About Death of Raila Odinga

Kahiga said the handshake between the late Raila Odinga and President William Ruto shifted all development to the Nyanza region, leaving Mt Kenya region marginalized.

“You guys can see, you can see what had been planned, but God brought something up. Now it’s total confusion. Everybody can see that. We did not harbor hate for anyone, but God came through for us. Because the plan that had been hatched, if you look keenly, for you who do not travel, because I was in that region, all goodies were being directed there because of tomorrow’s plan, because it seemed like they did away with us but God came and brought this thing,” he stated.
