Siaya Senator and ODM Acting Party Leader has hinted at leaders who might become Luo kingpin.
Speaking on October 24, Oburu revealed that it is Suna East MP Junet Mohamed who informed him that he had been picked as ODM Acting Party Leader during the arrival of Raila Odinga’s body at JKIA on October 16th
He stated that some people have been asking him about who will take over the leadership of the Luo nation after Raila Odinga.
Oburu said Raila has groomed several leaders who are strong enough to lead the community.
He singled out Homabay Governor Gladys Wanga, Siaya Governor James Orengo, and Migori Senator Eddy Oketch as some of the leaders who can lead the Luos.
“All these leaders you are seeing here can take over and lead the Luo nation,” he said.
Besides, he said the kingpin of the Luo community is not an elective position, adding that someone will just sprout and take over the mantle.
“Luos never sat and elected Raila as their leader. He just came from nowhere and took over,” Oburu added.

Oburu said his brother left the Luo nation in government and not hanging, like some people have questioned.
“Raila left us in the government. It is a government that we never elected, and we can’t get everything we want. When we form our own government or in coalition with others, we will be in the cooking area,” he said.
