The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has launched investigations in which a 17-year-old boy was allegedly assaulted by a police officer while in police custody.
The minor was reportedly rushed to Narok County Referral Hospital, where he is receiving treatment currently.
This mysterious incident happened at the Naroosura Police Station in Narok County.
The suspect had also been arrested in August for being linked to stealing tractor spare parts in the Naroosura area, and was arrested and taken into custody.
He was detained for several weeks after his arrest.
The minor was later presented in court this week to answer fresh charges concerning the breaking into a shop and stealing Ksh 34,000.
After the end of the court session, police officers declined to go back with the suspect to the station’s cells due to injuries he sustained during the assault incident.

The minor’s mother, Grace Takona, has cried out for justice to prevail in her son’s case.

Meanwhile, detectives are investigating an incident where a 4-year-old boy was murdered in Kiriaini village, Mathioya, Murang’a County.
The victim was a PP1 pupil.
On October 22nd, a mob confronted and assaulted the suspect, who was later rescued by the police officers.

The minor’s lifeless body was found lying in a pool of blood with deep cut wounds on the head.
At the crime scene, a blood-stained machete was discovered, linked to the suspect’s murder weapon, and kept as an exhibit.
The suspect was detained in police custody as he waits to be charged with murder, and pending investigations are being conducted.
Additionally, the police said the body of the minor was taken to mortuary for procedures like postmortem examinations.
