Musician and businesswoman Esther Akother popularly known as Akothee, has revealed that she has been diagnosed with severe migraines, a blood clot, and uterine fibroids.

In a statement on Facebook, Akothee said the doctors cannot locate the blood clot.

Akothee said the condition has resulted in a drastic change in her lifestyle and slowed her down.

“Most of you have been wondering about the drastic change in my lifestyle… Truth is, life slowed me down. I was diagnosed with severe migraines, blood clot, and uterine fibroids.they cant locate where the blood clot is exactly, last time they gave me blood thinner medication, a drug that caused an adverse reaction, I lost consciousness for about three hours. The doctors said it was a case of over-sedation and my body reacted strongly to the medication.” Three words that changed everything I knew about strength, pace, and purpose. For a long time, I thought being strong meant pushing through pain, smiling through,” Akothee said.

In a subsequent live video on Facebook on Sunday, October 26, 2025, Akothee said Africans fear talking about death, and that is why it gets some families unaware.

She explained that she does not fear death but fears the manner in which it might occur.

“I wonder why people don’t like talking about death. Excuse me, death is the only natural thing. The problem we have as Africans is that we keep going around; that is why it catches us unaware. I don’t fear death, I fear the nature,” she said.

Akothee Asks to be Buried in 48 Hours

Akothee told her fans that he swollen face is a result of the migraine.

The musician said she does not want her children to be stressed after her death and asked to be buried within 48 hours

“See, now my face is swollen, because migraine is here. You people will come, take my casket, and start running with it. No one should stress my children. I will be buried in 48 hours,” Akothee added.

Akothee said her body should not be taken to any of her homes when she dies, stating that the funeral ceremony should be held at Akothee Academy and that she should be laid to rest in a cemetery.

“When I die, my body should not be taken to my compound. Let it go from the church to Akothee Academy, then to the cemetery for burial. I don’t want to be buried in any of my homes; those properties are for my children,” Akothe said.

What Doctors Said

Akothee said the doctor asked her to avoid triggers if she has to live without taking drugs.

She explained that there are several triggers to her condition, and she is working on controlling them.

The Musician said the condition has become so severe that she prefers staying alone without her kids and dogs as well

“The doctor told me the only way to manage my migraine without staying on prescription the rest of my life is to avoid my triggers. I have so many triggers, some of them I have, and I am getting out of others. I can be my own trigger as well, I can’t do some things I used to do like shouting,” she added.
