The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has issued a set of four crucial directives to invigilators and field officers as the 2025 Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) kick off on Monday, October 27, 2025.

The council reminded all education officers to strictly adhere to the guidelines to ensure the integrity and smooth running of the national examinations, which coincide with the second week of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams.

In a statement, KNEC said, “The 2025 KPSEA and KJSEA start tomorrow as KCSE enters the second week. Field officers are reminded as follows…”

Key Directives to Invigilators and Centre Managers

The first directive requires that examination containers be opened at 6:00 a.m. for KPSEA and KJSEA papers, while KCSE containers will open at 7:00 a.m.

This measure, KNEC stated, is aimed at ensuring exams start on time across all examination centers.

Secondly, mobile phones belonging to all personnel within examination centres must be locked up, with the key kept by the supervisor.

This rule seeks to prevent exam malpractice, unauthorized communication, or leakage of papers.

KNEC also directed that all centre managers possess an approved list of authorized personnel, each required to carry a national identification card for verification before being allowed into the exam venue.

Finally, supervisors were cautioned to ensure that only the correct exam packet for each session is opened to avoid confusion or administrative errors.

First Day Exam Timetables Released

According to KNEC, the KJSEA will begin with English Language Paper 901/1 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:10 a.m., followed by English Composition and Literary Analysis (901/2) later in the morning.

For candidates with special needs, the hearing impaired and braille versions of the papers will have extended durations.

For KPSEA candidates, the day starts with Mathematics from 8:30 a.m., followed by English mid-morning.

Special accommodations have also been made for large print, braille, and hearing-impaired learners.

Meanwhile, the ongoing KCSE will feature Home Science (Foods and Nutrition Practical) papers between October 27 and 29, including large print and braille versions.

KNEC Sends Best Wishes to Candidates

KNEC concluded its statement by wishing all learners success, stating, “Best wishes to all candidates.”

The council emphasized that the directives are part of ongoing efforts to uphold fairness, transparency, and credibility in the administration of national examinations across the country.

As thousands of candidates across Kenya sit for their assessments, education stakeholders are hopeful that this year’s process will proceed smoothly, free from irregularities and logistical challenges.
