Police officers have recovered the gun that was stolen during the burial of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in Bondo, Siaya County.
In a statement on Sunday, October 26, the National Police Service (NPS said police officers from Kasagam Police Station have recovered a Jericho pistol loaded with 14 rounds of ammunition and arrested several suspects in the Mbeme area, Manyatta ‘B’ Sub-Location, Kisumu County.
NPS said the operation was conducted on Saturday, October 25, 2026, following a credible tip-off.
“It led to the arrest of the main suspect, who then led officers to his mother’s house. After a meticulous search, the firearm was found concealed in the kitchen ceiling,” NPS said.
Further, NPS said preliminary investigations indicate that the gun was the same one that went missing during Raila’s burial.
“Preliminary investigations have confirmed that the recovered pistol is the same weapon that was stolen from a police officer during the burial of the former Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga,” NPS added.

NPS has commended the continued collaboration with the public, which led to the successful operation.
The Service stated that the suspects are being held in custody pending their arraignment in court.
“Investigations are ongoing with a view to apprehending further suspects,” NPS added.
