The government has responded to reports that it has sent money to beneficiaries of the NYOTA programme.

According to reports from affected individuals, the messages appear convincing, with some even carrying forged NYOTA logos or fake transaction references.

These scams have spread rapidly through text messages and social media platforms, prompting swift action from the NYOTA Project management.

MSEA said those who have received the messages are asked to send money to unknown numbers.

“We have received reports of fraudulent M-PESA messages claiming that youth have received funds from the NYOTA Project or NYOTA Foundation and prompting recipients to send money to unknown numbers,” MSEA said.
