Guns and Ammunition Stolen from Police Station

Police officers in Thika East, Kiambu County, have launched investigations to track down suspects who have vanished with two rifles and ammunition from Maguguni Patrol post.

One of the police officers in the station who was on duty said while patrolling the station compound and the area near the A.I.P.C.A church, he heard dogs barking.

After noticing something unusual, he went on to check why the dogs were barking, and upon arrival, he discovered that one of the iron sheets on the armoury wall had been removed.

When he proceeded to the armoury, he found out that the padlock had been booked.

Upon searching, he also noticed that the steel storage box had been tampered with and weapons had been stolen.

What Central Regional Police Commander Said

Samuel Ndanyi, Central Regional Police Commander, confirmed the incident, saying it happened on October 29th, 2025.

Weapons stolen include one AK-47 rifle with two fully loaded magazines carrying 60 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and one G3 rifle with one loaded magazine containing 20 rounds, two empty magazines, and 96 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.

“One police officer of the rank of Corporal and 72 suspects have already been arrested in connection with the theft as security agencies intensify operations to recover the stolen firearms and ammunition,” stated Ndanyi.

Similar Incident in Nakuru

Elsewhere in Menengai, Nakuru County, it was reported that an AK-47 rifle was stolen from a police officer.

A police officer who works at Ngata Police Station was found outside with a head injury after he was attacked by unknown people and robbed of his weapon.

This incident happened on October 28th, 2025, and according to reports, his rifle was loaded with 30 bullets.

He was taken to the hospital and later detained as investigations are underway.

Police have urged the public to collaborate with them when they are investigating these incidents.
