Police in Eldoret have launched an intensive investigation following the mysterious disappearance of Shadrack Maritim, a local politician who has been missing for the past five days.
His family and authorities have appealed to the public for help as the search continues with little progress.
According to Maritim’s brother, Stephen Sawe, the family was not with him on the day he went missing.
However, they rushed to his home immediately after receiving the distressing news.
“When Shadrack got lost, we were not with him, but the moment we got the news, we headed to his home to give his family the support needed in his search,” said Sawe.
He added that the family has not received any credible leads about his whereabouts.
“Up to now, we don’t have any information that leads to his whereabouts. We as a family are really frustrated by his disappearance, and we don’t have peace because of that,” he said.
Another brother, Eli Koskei, echoed the family’s concerns, noting that they have been tirelessly searching for Maritim without success.
“We’re really struggling in searching for him, and I’m requesting any Kenyan with any information on his whereabouts to help us,” he pleaded.
Koskei added that the family remains hopeful for positive news, saying, “We’re still waiting for any good news as we’re hoping for the best for his safe return.”

Kapseret Subcounty Police Commander Zephania Kamuren confirmed that investigations are underway to establish Maritim’s last known movements.
“He came from his home, which is called Unity Homes, and went for a morning run. He doesn’t always carry his phone with him during his morning runs,” said Kamuren.
The police commander added that Maritim’s routine morning workout usually lasted about an hour, after which he would return home.
“On the fateful day, his return took long and the family started to worry,” Kamuren noted.
