A cloud of mystery surrounds the disappearance of Caroline Mokira, a mother of three from Kitale, who went missing two weeks ago under unclear circumstances.
Her family is now calling on the police to speed up investigations and bring answers to what they describe as a “painful nightmare.”
According to relatives, Caroline was last seen on October 17, when she reportedly left home in the company of her husband.
However, he later returned alone, a move that immediately raised suspicion and concern among neighbors and family members.
Since then, her family has been tirelessly distributing missing person posters across Kitale town, pleading for any information that could lead to her whereabouts.

On Thursday, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrived in Kitale to question Caroline’s husband as part of efforts to extract crucial information that could shed light on the case.
The investigation has drawn widespread attention in the area, with residents demanding transparency and swift action from the authorities.
Despite assurances from police that investigations are ongoing, the family says they have not received any tangible updates.
Caroline’s mother, Wilkister Nyaboke, could not hold back her emotions as she spoke to reporters.
Her words reflected the emotional toll the disappearance has taken on the family, which says Caroline was a pillar of strength and a source of financial and emotional support.
“Mungu ashuke, asikie maombi yangu ya kila siku, nipate Caro ju ye ndo alikua ananisaidia. Alikua tegemeo yangu.”
Which loosely translates to:
“May God come down and answer my daily prayers. May I find Caro because she is the one who used to help me. She was my support.”

Caroline’s uncle, Calvin Momanyi, also voiced his frustration with the slow pace of investigations, urging the government to act decisively.
“Serikali iharakishe kwa uchunguzi, washike huyo bwana yake aende kuelezea mbele mahali alipeleka Caroline ambaye anasema waliwachana kwa stage. Serikali itusaidie kutoka hapo.”
Which loosely translates to:
“The government should expedite the investigation, arrest that husband of hers, and take him to explain where he took Caroline, whom he claims he left at the stage. The government should help us from there.”
