The Registrar of Companies has dissolved two firms -the multinational oil and motor care company Caltex House Service Station Limited and Bora Motors Limited.
In a gazette notice dated October 31, Deputy Registrar Hiram Gachugi announced that both companies have been struck off the register of companies.
“Pursuant to section 897 (4) of the Companies Act, it is notified for the information of the general public that the following companies are dissolved and their names have been struck off the Register of Companies with effect from the date of publication of this notice.
Bora Motors Limited and Caltex House Service Station Limited,” read the notice in part.
Caltex has over 75 years of service and operates 165 service stations.

Multinational Care Company that has been in Kenya for a long time.
Caltex House Service Station Limited was a branch of Caltex multinational petroleum motor-care brand which was established in 1936, through a partnership between the Standard Oil of California and Texaco. The Caltex name in Kenya was known to the reliable fuel products, lubricants and vehicle service stations most of which were registered locally. The company has been operating in the Central Business District ( CBD) in Nairobi and other major towns over the decades and operated with retail motorists and other corporate clients.
According to the Kenya Gazette ,the company registered as Caltex House Service Station Limited (C.12484) was struck off the Companies Register in 2025 following statutory procedures by the Registrar of Companies. The move marked the formal end of the legal entity’s operations, though the Caltex brand itself continue to exist internationally as a company under Chevron Corporation.

Bora Motors Limited
Once a Vibrant Local Automotive Company Now Struck off Register.
Bora Motors Limited was an automotive company that operated in Nairobi and was characterized by the sale of vehicles and mechanical services, which happened between its period of operation.
It was founded as a limited company in accordance to Kenyan Companies Act to serve a growing market of car owners in need of locally based service solutions and imports of mid-range vehicles.
The business was in the competitive motor trade business that has been traditionally dominated by both the multi-national dealerships and small garages.
According to the public records published in Kenya Gazette, Bora Motors Limited (C.14827) was among several firms listed for strike off in June 2025.
The Registrar of Companies later confirmed its removal from the official register, signaling the closure of the Company’s legal status .
While similar names still exist in the local motor-care business, the original Bora Motors Limited entity has since ceased formal operations.
