President William Ruto will depart Nairobi on November 3 evening for Doha, Qatar, on a mission to strengthen Kenya’s economic partnerships, attract new investments, and represent the country at the UN’s Second World Summit for Social Development (WSSD2).

According to a statement from State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed, the visit aims to secure strategic agreements that will modernize Kenya’s infrastructure and advance flagship projects in energy and transport.

The President is also expected to hold high-level discussions with His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, to deepen bilateral cooperation in trade and investment.

“President Ruto will conclude key investment agreements to modernize Kenya’s infrastructure and advance flagship energy and transport projects,” the statement read. “He will also engage Qatari business leaders to broaden public-private partnerships.”

President will seek to expand the Kenya-Qatar Bilateral Labour Agreement to cover more professional and technical roles.

The move is intended to open additional employment pathways for Kenyan youth and enhance skills-training programs aligned with Qatar’s labor market demands.

“This will create new pathways for young Kenyans and support those already working in Qatar as they continue contributing to both economies,” the statement said.

While in Doha, Ruto will also deliver statements on behalf of Kenya and the Africa Group at the UN summit, which focuses on poverty reduction, decent work, and social inclusion.
