The Prime Cabinet Secretary and CS for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi, held a telephone consultations with his counterpart, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo (MP), Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation of the United Republic of Tanzania, regarding the welfare of Kenyan nationals residing in Tanzania.
During the engagement, the Prime Cabinet Secretary emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety and security of all foreign nationals, including members of the Kenyan diaspora community, who continue to contribute to Tanzania’s economic development through legitimate business activities and professional services.
In addition, Mudavadi noted that there were reported incidents where rights of several Kenyans have been infringed and these specific cases have been formally submitted to the Tanzanian government for action.
Mudavadi expressed appreciation for Tanzania’s assurances that all foreign residents conducting lawful activities within Tanzania will continue to enjoy full protection under the law.
Both Ministers agreed that any incidents requiring attention would be addressed through established diplomatic and consular mechanisms in accordance with international protocols and the principles of the East African Community Common Market Protocol.
Mudavadi reaffirmed Kenya’s steadfast commitment to the enduring bilateral relations between our two nations and to the strengthening of the East African Community integration agenda.

Both Ministers underscored their shared determination to maintain the exemplary cooperation that has characterized Kenya-Tanzania relations for decades.
The Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs continues to work closely with our High Commission in Dar es Salaam to provide consular services and support to all Kenyan citizens in Tanzania.
Earlier, the Kenyan High Commission in Tanzania said it has resumed it’s normal operations after the Tanzanian government halted curfew and movement restrictions.
The commission assured Kenyans living in Tanzania their well being and safety and they are liasing with Tanzanian authorities to protect Kenyans nationals.

“The Kenya High Commission in Dar es Salaam wishes to reassure the Kenyan community in Tanzania that the Mission has resumed normal operations following the lifting of the curfew and restrictions put in place after the General Elections in Tanzania,” read in part notice.
Additionally, they urged Kenyans to continue with their lawful day-to-day activities without fear as everything is sorted out.
