The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has broken its silence on the proposal to introduce a website that would allow Kenyans to register as voters or transfer their details without visiting the commission’s offices.
X user Mwangi Kiptagwanyi asked IEBC to create a platform where Kenyans can get services without visiting the office.
“IEBC, can’t you create a website where someone can register or transfer his or her vote without visiting the office?” Mwangi asked.
IEBC responded, stating that Mwangi’s proposal is great.
The Commission said it is keen to use electoral technology where necessary to enhance Kenya’s experience.
Besides, IEBC said it has noted the concerns raised by Mwangi without giving specifics about the matter.
“Hello Mwangi, this is a great proposal. IEBC is keen to deploy electoral technology where applicable to enhance our customers’ experience. Your concern is well noted. Have a great day!,” the Commission responded.
Currently, Kenyans must visit IEBC offices or registration stations to get their voter’s card.
