Kenya Met Lists Regions to Continue Receiving Rainfall This Week

Kenya Meteorological Department (Kenya Met) has predicted that some areas in the country will continue receiving rainfall between November 8th and 12th.

In its five-day weather forecast, Kenya Met said some regions are likely to experience isolated heavy rains during this period.

This includes parts of Central Highlands, Western, North-western, and North-eastern Kenya.

“Rainfall is expected to continue over several parts of the country. Isolated heavy rainfall is likely to be experienced in the areas of the Highlands in East and West of the Rift Valley, as well as in North-western and North-eastern Kenya,” reads part of the forecast.

Western Kenya & Rift Valley

Morning rain is expected in some regions of the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley.

Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are likely to occur over several places, with night showers expected at some places.

Affected counties are Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, West-Pokot, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, and Narok.

North-Western Kenya

Samburu and Turkana counties will experience morning rains, afternoon and night showers.

Kenya Met warned that thunderstorms are expected to occur over a few places, occasionally spreading to various areas.

Nairobi and Highlands East of the Rift Valley.

Mornings are likely to be cloudy with some light rains over some areas, giving way to sunny intervals in Nairobi County and the neighbouring Highlands East of the Rift Valley.

Thunderstorms, afternoon and evening showers are probable over several places, occasionally spreading to several places.

Other counties in this region are Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Muranga, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka-Nithi.

North-Eastern Kenya

North-Eastern Kenya counties, including Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo, will experience morning rains as well as afternoon and night showers. Thunderstorms are likely to occur in a few locations.

South-Eastern Lowlands

The south-eastern lowlands will experience sunny intervals in the morning, with afternoons and nights of showers and thunderstorms in several areas.

This region includes Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, Taita-Taveta, and inland Tana River County.

Coastal Region

Along the Coast, morning, afternoon, and night rains are anticipated in a few areas, occasionally spreading to several areas.

The affected counties are Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale, and the coastal areas of the Tana River County.

The Coast, North-eastern and North-western Kenya will experience average maximum daytime temperatures of more than 30°C, while average night-time temperatures will drop to less than 10°C in parts of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley and the Central Rift Valley.
